Hyalodictys

Hyalodictys Subram., Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Pl. Sci. 55B: 8. 1962.

Index Fungorum number: IF 8575; Facesoffungi number: FoF 08615, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), no molecular data available.

Associated with leaf spot. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Hypha hyaline, branched, septate. Conidiophores simple, short, borne laterally or terminally on vegetative hypha. Conidiogenous cells not observed. Conidia sessile, borne directly on cells of vegetative hypha or on short conidiophores, hyaline, of variable shape, dictyosporous, produced singly and acrogenously. Basal cell of the conidium is somewhat flat and has a broadly rounded tip (adapted from Subramanian 1961).

Type species: Hyalodictys degenerans (Syd. & P. Syd.) Subram.

Notes: Hyalodictys is characterised by hyaline hyphae, and sessile conidia of variable shape. Hyalodictys was treated as a synonym of Miuraea by Videira et al. (2017) but Hongsanan et al. (2020b) placed it as a doubtful genus in Mycosphaerellaceae. The placement of Hyalodictys in Mycosphaerellaceae is doubtful. Molecular data is lacking for this genus and fresh collections are required to resolve the correct taxonomic placement.
