Associated with leaf spot. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Caespituli effuse, brown. Notes: Gomphinaria is characterised by effuse, brown caespituli, erect, subulate, simple conidiophores, and terminal, subapically formed, oblong, hyaline, aseptate conidia. Gomphinaria is a ramichloridium-like hyphomycete with doubtful phylogenetic placement in Mycosphaerellaceae. Fresh specimens with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the taxonomic placement of Gomphinaria.
