Importance and distribution

Species of Colletogloeum are associated with leaf spot. There are 19 Colletogloeum epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Kirramyces, Marssonina and Phyllachora. Colletogloeum comprises 15 species known on a wide range of plants such as Acacia rehmanniana (Fabaceae), leaves of Artocarpus heterophyllus (Moraceae), pods of Dalbergia sissoo (Fabaceae), Feronia elephantum (Rutaceae), leaves of Ficus religiosa (Moraceae), Fouquieria splendens (Fouquieriaceae), Olax scandens (Olacaceae), Artocarpus integrifolius (Moraceae), Persea (Lauraceae), Protium serratum (Burseraceae), Rhus radicans (Anacardiaceae), phyllodes of Acacia complanata (Fabaceae) and Veratrum album (Melanthiaceae). Colletogloeum is reported from Asia (China, India, Pakistan), Australia (Queensland), Central America (Costa Rica), Europe (Austria) and the United States (Arizona, New Jersey). A revision of Colletogloeum is needed as several species lack DNA sequence data. An attempt to re-collect the type species C. dalbergiae from the type hosts and location is needed.
