Cercosporina

Cercosporina Speg., Anal. Mus. nac. B. Aires, Ser. 3 13: 424 (1910) [1911].

Associated with leaf spots. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Spots sometimes solitary or confluent, sub elliptical. Conidiophores flexuous-nodular, 12 septate, apex acute, and few-papillose. Conidia gently curved, very thin, 35 septate, hyaline (Adapted from Spegazzini 1911).

 

Type species: Cercosporina asparagicola Speg.

 

Notes: Cercosporina was introduced by Spegazzini with C. asparagicola as type species. Cercosporina is currently treated as a synonym of Cercospora (Videira et al. 2017; Index Fungorum 2022). Cercosporina lacks sequence data. Videira et al. (2017) listed Cercosporina in Mycosphaerellaceae. The placement of Cercosporina in Mycosphaerellaceae is doubtful.
