Species of Caryophylloseptoria are Septoria-like pathogens causing leaf and fruit spot diseases (Crous et al. 2013).

Industrial relevance and applications

The industrial applications of Caryophylloseptoria has not been investigated.

Quarantine significance

The biocontrol properties of Caryophylloseptoria has not been reported.

Biochemical importance of the genus, chemical diversity or applications

The chemical application of Caryophylloseptoria has not been studied. This warrants further research.

Diversity of the genus

Caryophylloseptoria comprises four species known on four host plants and one plant family namely Caryophyllaceae. Caryophylloseptoria is specific to Caryophyllaceae and has been reported mainly from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and South Korea.
