Importance and distribution

Monoblastia is lichenized and comprises twelve species known on bark and trunks of Rhizophora mangle (Rhizophoraceae), Cupressus (Cupressaceae), montane rain-forest, and on limestone. Monoblastia is reported from Asia (Japan), Central America (Costa Rica), Europe (France, French Guiana, New Caledonia), North America (Caribbean, the United States) and Oceania (Papua New Guinea).
