Importance and distribution

Megalotremis species are lichenized and comprises sixteen species known on bark, trunks or detritus. Megalotremis is reported from Asia (Andaman Island, Japan, Sri Lanka), Oceania (Australia, Papua New Guinea), Central America (Costa Rica) and Europe (France, New Caledonia).
