Importance and distribution

There are six Ostreichnion epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but three species namely O. appendiculatum, O. beejakoshae and O. curtisii have been transferred to Ericboehmia. Ostreichnion americanum has been synonymized with O. sassafras. Ostreichnion comprises two species known on Pinus sp. (Pinaceae), Quercus faginea (Fagaceae) and Vitis sp. (Vitaceae) and distributed in Europe (Spain, United Kingdom) and The United States.
