Importance and distribution
There are 21 Psiloglonium epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Anteaglonium, Ericboehmia and Glonium. Psiloglonium comprises sixteen species known on several host plants with wide geographical distribution. Psiloglonium araucanum is known on rotten branches of Lardizabala (Lardizabalaceae) in South America (Chile (Biobío)), P. chambianum on wood of Lonicera implexa (Caprifoliaceae) in Africa (Tunisia), P. clavisporum on decorticated wood in Central America (Nicaragua), P. colihuae on stem of Chusquea culeou (Poaceae) in South America (Argentina (Neuquén)), P. compactum on seeds of Strychnos aculeata (Loganiaceae) in Africa (Guinea), P. ephedrae on dead branches of Ephedra andina (Ephedraceae) in South America (Chile (Valparaíso)), P. hysterinum on bark in South America (Brazil (Santa Catarina)), P. macrosporum and P. multiseptatum on unknown dead twig and stem of Thysanolaena maxima (Poaceae) respectively in Asia (Thailand), P. pusillum twigs of Juniperus phoenicea (Cupressaceae) in Europe (France), P. ruthenicum on Quercus robur (Fagaceae) in Europe (Ukraine), P. sasicola on dead culm Sasa (Poaceae) in Asia (Japan (Honshu)), P. simulans on wood in the United States (New York), P. stygium on bark in the United States (Pennsylvania) and P. uspallatense on dead decorticated branches of Bulnesia retama (Zygophyllaceae) in South America (Argentina (Mendoza)).
