Importance and distribution
Phaeothecoidiella comprises two species known on Malus sp. (Rosaceae) in The United States (Illinois and Missouri).
Quarantine significance
Phaeothecoidiella causes blemishes on surface of apple fruit (Malus, Rosaceae) which are economically damaging and is of quarantine importance (Yang et al. 2010).
