Importance and distribution
Xenosporium comprises 17 species known on hosts such as Agave sp. (Agavaceae), Arenga engleri (Arecaceae), Bambusa sp. (Poaceae), Calyptronoma plumeriana (Arecaceae), Cordia gerascanthus (Boraginaceae), Cornus florida (Cornaceae), Cupania macrophylla (Sapindaceae), Dendropanax arboreus (Araliaceae), Erythrina sp. (Fabaceae), Pennisetum sp. (Poaceae) and Persea americana (Lauraceae). Xenosporium is reported from Africa (Uganda), Asia (Taiwan), Australia, Caribbean (Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago), Central America (Costa Rica), North America (Bermuda, Mexico, the United States) and Oceania (New Zealand). Xenosporium thaxteri was transferred to Acanthostigmella.
