Trichodothella

Trichodothella Petr., in Blumer, Ergebn. wiss. Unters. schweiz. NatnParks, N.S. 14: 37 (1946).

Index Fungorum number: IF 5554; Facesoffungi number: FoF 12515, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), no molecular data available.

See Blumer et al. (1946).

Type species: Trichodothella blumeri Petr. ex S. Blumer

Notes: Zhang et al. (2011) reported that Trichodothella is a “transition” genus based on the position of ascomata on the ascostromata. Müller and Arx (1962) mentioned Trichodothella as having ascomata formed radially around the circumference of the stromatal disc, but under the hyphae around the ascostromata. Information regarding Trichodothella is scarce. Molecular data is lacking. Wijayawardene et al. (2017, 2020) listed Trichodothella in Dothideomycetes genera incertae sedis. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the systematic position of Trichodothella.
