Tetracrium

Tetracrium Henn., Hedwigia 41: 116 (1902).

Index Fungorum number: IF 10194; Facesoffungi number: FoF 12498, 5 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), no molecular data available.

Saprobic on host. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Hyphae hyaline, septate. Fertile hyphae erect, shortest, continuous. Conidia acrogenous quadri-radiate, elongate-fusoid, pluriseptate, hyaline (adapted from Hennings 1902).

 Type species: Tetracrium aurantii Henn.

Notes: Tetracrium is characterised by hyaline, septate hyphae, and acrogenous quadri-radiate, elongate-fusoid, pluriseptate, hyaline conidia. The sexual morph is thought to be Podonectria aurantii but this has not been proven by molecular evidence (Petch 1921). Molecular data is lacking. Kirk et al. (2013) and Wijayawardene et al. (2017, 2020) listed Tetracrium in Dothideomycetes genera incertae sedis. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the systematic position of Tetracrium.
