Index Fungorum number: IF 28944; Facesoffungi number: FoF 12480, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), no molecular data available.

Stroma perithecial, epiphyllous, angular in outline, often in coalesced patches forming black spots on leaf surface with black crustose centre and whitish margin. Sexual morph: Perithecia immersed, grouped together in rows, globose to subglobose, having dark brown peridial wall composed of 3 layers. Notes: Sivanesaniella is characterised by globose to subglobose perithecia, clavate, annellate, hyaline, 8-spored asci and hyaline, smooth, naviculate, bi-celled ascospores. Lumbsch and Huhndorf (2010) and Kirk et al. (2013) accepted Sivanesaniella in Venturiaceae. Hyde et al. (2013) and Wijayawardene et al. (2017, 2020) referred Sivanesaniella to Dothideomycetes genera incertae sedis. Molecular data is lacking. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the taxonomic position of Sivanesaniella.
