Rosenscheldia
Rosenscheldia Speg., Anal. Soc. cient. argent. 19(6): 250 (1885).
Index Fungorum number: IF 4787; Facesoffungi number: FoF 12457, 5 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), no molecular data available.
Saprobic on host. Sexual morph: Stroma, large at first covered with a not-deformed epidermis, then a slit longitudinally erumpent cushion, often joining together, surrounding branches and branches entirely. Locules at first immersed then completely projecting, globose, densely compacted, never confluent, glabrous. Asci cylindrical, truncate anteriorly, rounded and very shortly tapered, pedicellate, paraphysate, 8-spored. Ascospores fusoid clavulate acicular, not very sharp on both sides scarcely unequal, uniseptate not constricted in the middle, minutely hyaline with minutely bigutulate lobes. Asexual morph: Unknown (adapted from Spegazzini 1885).
Type species: Rosenscheldia paraguaya Speg.
Notes: Rosenscheldia is characterised by large stromata, cylindrical asci truncate anteriorly and fusoid, clavulate or acicular, hyaline ascospores. Information regarding Rosenscheldia and molecular data is lacking. Lumbsch and Huhndorf (2010), Kirk et al. (2013) and Wijayawardene et al. (2017, 2020) listed Rosenscheldia in Dothideomycetes genera incertae sedis. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the systematic position of Rosenscheldia.
