Importance and distribution
Placosphaeria comprises 62 species known on wide range of plants such as Annona muricata (Annonaceae), Arctostaphylos nevadensis (Ericaceae), Aristida pallens (Poaceae), Astragalus longipetiolatus (Fabaceae), Baccharis sp. (Asteraceae), Bartsia alpina (Orobanchaceae), Bougainvillea spectabilis (Nyctaginaceae), Calotropis procera (Apocynaceae), Campanula sp. (Campanulaceae), Elytrigia repens (Poaceae), Galium odoratum (Rubiaceae), Panicum turgidum (Poaceae) amongst others. Placosphaeria is reported from Africa (Eritrea), Asia (Uzbekistan), Europe (Greenland, Poland, Ukraine), North America (Caribbean (Dominican Republic), the United States) and South America (Chile).
