Importance and distribution

Phaeopeltosphaeria comprises five species known on Bursera graveolens (Burseraceae), Chaetochloa vulpiseta (Poaceae), Diospyros peregrina (Ebenaceae), Ferula badra-kema (Apiaceae), Peganum harmala (Nitrariaceae) and Salsola stellulata (Amaranthaceae). Two species have been transferred to Pleospora and Pyrenographa. Phaeopeltosphaeria has been reported from Asia (China, India, Russia), Central America (Panama) and South America (Galapagos Islands).
