Importance and distribution
Peltaster comprises thirty-one species known on several host plants such as Asimina triloba (Annonaceae), Bauhinia sp. (Fabaceae), Bertholletia excelsa (Lecythidaceae), Byrsonima sp. (Malpighiaceae), Crataegus pinnatifida (Rosaceae), Heliconia sp. (Heliconiaceae), Malus domestica (Rosaceae), Oenocarpus sp. (Arecaceae), Salacia sp. (Celastraceae), Simaba sp. (Simaroubaceae) and Terminalia sp. (Combretaceae). Peltaster is reported from Asia (China, Turkey), Europe (Germany, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia), South America (Brazil, Guyana) and the United States (Alabama, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin).
