Importance and distribution

There are eight Passeriniella epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Byssothecium and Halobyssothecium. Passeriniella comprises four species known on Asperula galioides (Rubiaceae), in seawater on rotten wood of Rhizophora mucronata (Rhizophoraceae) and Xylocarpus granatum (Meliaceae). Passeriniella is reported from Africa (Seychelles) and Europe (Germany).
