Importance and distribution
There are 64 Otthia epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Amphisphaeria, Apiosporina, Byssosphaeria, Cucurbitaria, Cytospora, Didymella, Dothidotthia, Gibbera, Immotthia, Melanomma, Otthiella, Phaeobotryon and Phyllachora. Otthia comprises 39 species known on a range of plants such as Acer pseudoplatanus (Sapindaceae), Ailanthus excelsa (Simaroubaceae), Artemisia turanica (Asteraceae), Berberis heteropoda (Berberidaceae), Butea monosperma (Fabaceae), Malus sylvestris (Rosaceae), Pistacia mutica (Anacardiaceae), Salix waldsteiniana (Salicaceae), Sambucus caerulea (Adoxaceae) and Spiraea lindleyana (Rosaceae). Otthia is reported from Asia (China, India, Pakistan, Russia), Europe (Denmark, Germany, Poland, Ukraine) and the United States (Washington).
