Myriostigmella

Parasitic or saprobic on host. Sexual morph: Ascomata circular, scattered, flattened, superficial, carbonaceous, brittle, black. Peridium 1-layer, dark brown, comprising cells of textura angularis. Hamathecium dense, septate hyaline to light brown cellular pseudoparaphyses. Asci 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, oblong to obclavate, small pedicel, with distinct ocular chamber. Ascospores partially overlapping, with broadly rounded ends, hyaline to pale brown, uniseptate, slightly constricted at the septum, with upper cell shorter than the lower cell, smooth-walled. Asexual morph: Unknown.

 Type species: Myriostigmella guatteriae (G. Arnaud) G. Arnaud

Notes: Arnaud (1952) synonymized Myriostigmella with Myriostigma. Information regarding Myriostigmella is scarce. Lumbsch and Huhndorf (2010), Kirk et al. (2013) and Wijayawardene et al. (2017, 2020) listed Myriostigmella in Dothideomycetes genera incertae sedis. Molecular data is lacking. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the systematic position of Myriostigmella.
