Importance and distribution
There are 39 Mycothyridium epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Ceratostoma, Dyrithium, Karstenula, Platystomum, Teichospora and Thyridium. Mycothyridium comprises nine species known on Aerva javanica (Amaranthaceae), Astragalus sp. (Fabaceae), Dalbergia sissoo (Fabaceae), Dodonaea viscosa (Sapindaceae), Ficus palmata (Moraceae), Malus sylvestris (Rosaceae), Prosopis spicigera (Fabaceae), Rhododendron ponticum subsp. ponticum (Ericaceae), Suaeda fruticosa (Amaranthaceae) and Ziziphus jujuba (Rhamnaceae). Mycothyridium is reported from Asia (Pakistan) and Europe (Bulgaria, Sweden).
