See Müller (1885). Ascospores dark brown, transversely septate, composed of sub regular apothecia.

 Type species: Mycoporopsis sorenocarpa (C. Knight) Müll. Arg.

Notes: Mycoporopsis is characterised by dark brown, transversely septate ascospores. A complete morphological description and molecular data is lacking for Mycoporopsis. Lumbsch and Huhndorf (2010), Kirk et al. (2013) and Wijayawardene et al. (2017, 2020) listed Mycoporopsis in Dothideomycetes genera incertae sedis. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the taxonomic placement of Mycoporopsis.
