Importance and distribution

There are 32 Mycoporellum epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Arthonia, Arthopyrenia, Dermatina, Mycoporopsis, Mycoporum, Rhaphidicyrtis, Stigmidium and Trypetheliopsis. Mycoporellum comprises 14 species known on several host plants and has worldwide distribution.
