Importance and distribution

Microdothella comprises six species known on Caesalpinia bonducella (Fabaceae), Chloris incompleta (Poaceae), Digitaria nodosa (Poaceae), Ischaemum sp. (Poaceae), Laurus lindera (Lauraceae), Lindera sp. (Lauraceae) and Pennisetum sp. (Poaceae). Microdothella is reported from Asia (India, Pakistan, Philippines), North America and The United States (Maryland, Pennsylvania). Microdothella might comprise many more species. An attempt to re-investigate existing species of Microdothella is needed and new collections must be found to clarify its systematic position.
