Massariola

Massariola Füisting, Bot. Ztg. 26: 417 (1868).

Index Fungorum number: IF 3018; Facesoffungi number: FoF 12284, 2 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), no molecular data available.

See Füisting (1868).

 Type species: need typification.

Notes: Massariola was introduced by Füisting (1868) without designation of a type species. Lumbsch and Huhndorf (2010), Kirk et al. (2013), and Wijayawardene et al. (2017, 2020) listed Massariola in Dothideomycetes genera incertae sedis. We tried to locate the specimens M. microspora and M. tenella but it seems that they are lost. Molecular data is lacking for Massariola. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed for further studies on Massariola.

Importance and distribution

Massariola comprises two species. Information regarding the host and location of Massariola is not known.
