Lucidascocarpa pulchella A. Ferrer, Raja & Shearer, Mycologia 100(5): 644 (2008).

Index Fungorum number: IF 508170; Facesoffungi number: FoF 00131, Fig. 1

Description:

Saprobic on woody material in freshwater habitats. Sexual morph: Ascomata 340–375 μm diam., 190–200 μm high, superficial or immersed, scattered or clustered, globose to subglobose, brown to dark brown, coriaceous, papillate. Peridium 90–110 μm membranous, 1–4-layered, of cells of textura angularis. Hamathecium 1.2–1.5 μm comprising hyaline, sparsely branched, cellular pseudoparaphyses. Asci 105−113 × 28−30 µm (x̄ = 111.6 × 29.3 µm, n = 10), 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, clavate to cymbiform, short pedicellate, with thickened apical region, and in distinct ocular chamber. Ascospores 25−27 × 9.7−10.1 µm (x̄ = 26.5 × 9.9 µm, n = 10), bi-seriate to multi-seriate, oval to fusiform, multi-septate, not constricted at the septum, multiguttulate, hyaline surrounded with a sheath, smooth-walled. Asexual morph: Unknown.

Material examined: Ecuador, Yasuni National Park, Tiputini River, on submerged decorticated wood, 4 April 2004, A. Ferrer (ILL00086244, holotype).
