Importance and distribution

Eupelte dothideoides has been synonymized and transferred to Maurodothina. Eupelte comprises four species known on living leaves of Olea laurifolia (Oleaceae), needles of Abies amabilis (Pinaceae), Rapanea pulchra (Myrsinaceae) and leaves of Andromeda ferruginea (Ericaceae). Eupelte is reported from Africa (Democratic Republic of the Congo), North America (Canada) and The United States (Florida). Species of Eupelte causes a black mildew on Abies (Pinaceae) in north temperate regions (Pirozynski and Shoemaker 1970).
