Importance and distribution

There are 27 Eriomycopsis species in Index Fungorum (2022), but fourteen species have been transferred to Atractilina, Chionomyces, Neoeriomycopsis, Paratrichoconis, Rhytidenglerula, Sympodiophora, Trichoconis and Trichothecium. Eriomycopsis comprises 13 species known on a wide range of hosts such as Canthium ventosum (Rubiaceae), Cryptocarya transvaalensis (Lauraceae), Curtisia faginea (Curtisiaceae), Eugenia zuluensis (Myrtaceae), Gonioma kamassi (Apocynaceae), Ilex capensis (Aquifoliaceae), Lachnopylis floribunda (Stilbaceae), Olea laurifolia (Oleaceae), Scolopia mundtii (Salicaceae) and Trichocladus crinitus (Hamamelidaceae). Eriomycopsis is reported from Africa (Ghana Sudan, Uganda), Asia (China, Malaysia, Russia, Taiwan), North America (Caribbean (Dominican Republic), the United States (Wisconsin)) and South America (Brazil, Venezuela).
