Description:
Saprobic on soft, decorticated woody material. Sexual morph: Ascomata 210–235 µm diam., 134–192 µm high immersed, globose to subglobose, black, coriaceous, ostiolate, short-papillate, easily detached from the substratum, solitary or gregarious. Peridium 5–11 µm thin, comprising 1 layer of relatively large, thin-walled, brown angular cells, arranged in a textura angularis. Hamathecium comprising 2–4 μm wide, dense pseudoparaphyses, unbranched between the asci, branching and anastomosing above the asci. Asci 57–72 µm × 7–11 µm (x̄ = 63.0 × 9.6 µm, n = 10), 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, cylindrical to sub-cylindrical, pedicellate, thick-walled, with an indistinct ocular chamber. Ascospores 12–16 µm × 4–6 µm (x̄ = 14.5 × 5.6 µm, n = 10), 1–2-seriate, oblong to ellipsoid, pale brown to olive brown, 1-septate, guttulate, smooth, each end with a sub hyaline with a broadly rounded germ pore.
