Barr (1987) placed Didymolepta in Leptosphaeriaceae. Didymolepta differs from other members of Leptosphaeriaceae in havinguniseptate ascospores. Molecular data is lacking for Didymolepta. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the generic placement of Didymolepta.
