Description:
Saprobic on host. Sexual morph: Ascomata 350–650 µm diam., 320–500 µm high, small, superficial, solitary, globose to subglobose, black, membranous, loculate, easy to remove, with hairs at the base. Ostiole absent. Peridium thin, one layer, composed of dark brown tissue. Pseudoparaphyses 2–2.3 µm wide, numerous, long to short, septate, branching, hyaline to brown, straight to curve. Asci 20–35 µm × 15–20 µm (x̄ = 22.1 × 15.7 µm, n = 10), 8-spored, bitunicate, clavate to subglobose, with short furcate pedicel, with apical chamber. Ascospores 5–6 × 5.2–6.3 µm (x̄ = 5.3 × 6 µm, n = 10), multi-seriate, globose, no-septate, brown to pale brown, smooth walled. Asexual morph: Unknown.

Importance and distribution
Comesella comprises only one species known on fronds of Pteridophyta in Caribbean (Cuba).
