Ceramoclasteropsis

Ceramoclasteropsis Bat. & Cavalc., in Batista et al., Brotéria, N.S. 31(2): 101 (1962).

Index Fungorum number: IF 879; Facesoffungi number: FoF 12155, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), no molecular data available.

See Batista et al. (1962).

Type species: Ceramoclasteropsis coumae Bat. & Cavalc.

Notes: Ceramoclasteropsis is characterised by superficial ascomata produced on superficial dark brown mycelium and appear as an ascostromata, bitunicate and apedicellate asci and clavate, hyaline ascospores with 1–3 transverse septa. Ceramoclasteropsis resembles members of Chaetothyriaceae based on the characters of the paraphyses. Ceramoclasteropsis is also similar to Limacinula in having ascospores with 1–3 transverse septa. Chomnunti et al. (2011) excluded Ceramoclasteropsis from Capnodiaceae based on the ascostromata and trans-septate hyaline ascospores. Sequence data is lacking for Ceramoclasteropsis. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the generic placement of Ceramoclasteropsis.
