Ampullifera

Ampullifera Deighton, Mycol. Pap. 78: 36 (1960).

Index Fungorum number: IF 7142; Facesoffungi number: FoF 12125, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), no molecular data available.

Mycelium superficial, forming a loose network of olivaceous septate branched repent hyphae bearing lateral mucronate ampulliform hyphopodia. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Conidiophores olivaceous, erect, straight, septate, usually simple, rarely branched. Conidia olivaceous, catenate, continuous, ellipsoid, smooth, without a true hilum (adapted from Deighton 1960).

 Type species: Ampullifera foliicola Deighton

Notes: Ampullifera is characterised by mucronate, ampulliform hyphopodia, olivaceous, erect, straight, septate conidiophores and olivaceous, catenate, continuous, ellipsoid conidia. Molecular data is lacking for Ampullifera. Fresh collections with DNA sequence data are needed to confirm the generic placement of Ampullifera.
