Importance and distribution
Acanthostigmella comprises two species known on six host plants (Phalaris sp., Phragmites communis, Hypoxylon mammatum (Xylariaceae), Salix sp., Taxus canadensis, Costus spiralis) and four plant families Costaceae, Poaceae, Salicaceae and Taxaceae. Acanthostigmella is reported from Caribbean (Trinidad and Tobago), Europe (Austria, United Kingdom) and North America (Canada).
