Type species: Acanthorus maranhensis Bat. & Cavalc.

Notes: Acanthorus maranhensis was found on leaves of Bertholletia in Brazil. The sexual morph of Acanthorus is unknown. The asexual morph is coelomycetous. Wijayawardene et al. (2017, 2018) treated this genus as Ascomycota genera incertae sedis since cultures and sequences are unavailable. There are currently no recent studies available on this genus hence, recollection, epitypification and molecular phylogenetic study are needed to clarify the taxonomic placement of Acanthorus.
