Importance and distribution
There are five records of Mesniera in Index Fungorum (2022), but Mesniera pavonina has been recombined as Stegasphaeria pavonina. Mesniera annonae was found on dead branches of Annona squamosa (Annonaceae) in Asia (India-Maharashtra). Mesniera cryptostegiae was reported on dried stems of Cryptostegia grandiflora (Apocynaceae) in Asia (India-Maharashtra). Mesniera rottlerae was isolated from leaves of Rottleria floribunda (Euphorbiaceae) in Asia (Java) while M. viennotii was found on leaves of Macaranga barteri (Euphorbiaceae) in Africa (Ivory Coast).
