Importance and distribution
There 56 Meliolina epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Asteridiella, Cryptomeliola, Meliola and Trichodochium. Meliolina comprises 49 species, especially common on myrtaceous plants such as Syzygium gerrardii, Eugenia bulusanensis, Lophostemon suaveolens, Melaleuca sp., Tristania conferta, Metrosideros sp., Kunzea ericoides, Leptospermum scoparium and Lophostemon suaveolens. Meliolina is host-specific as each species occurs on a specific plant. Meliolina has been reported from Africa (Mauritius), Asia (China, India, Myanmar, Philippines, Taiwan), North America (Caribbean (Dominican Republic), the United States), Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea) and South America (Colombia).
