Pringsheimia

Pringsheimia Schulzer, Verh. Kaiserl.-Königl. zool.-bot. Ges. Wien 16: 57 (1866).

Index Fungorum number: IF 4366; Facesoffungi number: FoF 00095, 13 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), no molecular data available.

Saprobic or pathogenic on host. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Spores club-shaped at the top, thick downwards, rounded on both sides, septate, not notched (adapted from Schulzer et al. 1866).

Type species: Pringsheimia rosarum Schulzer

Notes: Pringsheimia lacks a good morphological description as well as sequence data. Thambugala et al. (2014) reported that one putative strain of Pringsheimia smilacis which has sequence data in GenBank clustered in Dothideaceae. Hongsanan et al. (2020a) excluded Pringsheimia from Dothideaceae due to lack of sequence data of the type and other species and referred Pringsheimia to Dothideales, genera incertae sedis.
