Importance and distribution

Endodothiora comprises only one species which is parasitic on the stroma of Systremma puccinioides on dead branch of Buxus sempervirens (Buxaceae) in Asia (Abkhazia). Endodothiora can penetrate the outer defenses and obtain nutrients from living cytoplasm causing disease or death of the fungus (Szabo and Bushnell 2001).
