Importance and distribution
There are 211 records of Stenella in Index Fungorum (2022), but many have been transferred to other genera such as Cladosporium, Passalora, Pseudocercospora, Pseudozasmidium, Verrucisporota and Zasmidium. Stenella is distributed on wide range of hosts such as Anacardiaceae, Apocynaceae, Clusiaceae, Convolvulaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Fabaceae, Lauraceae, Malpighiaceae, Meliaceae, Moraceae, Rosaceae, Rubiaceae and Rutaceae. Stenella has been reported from Africa (Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Uganda), Asia (India), Australia (Victoria), Caribbean (Cuba) and South America (Colombia, Venezuela) amongst others. Stenella is a complex genus that requires revision.
