Index Fungorum number: IF 564518; Facesoffungi number: FoF 06992, 3 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), 3 species with molecular data.
Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Hyphomyceteous. Colonies slow growing, compact, centrally heaped or cerebriform, marginally flat, slightly velvety, black; on acidic medium powdery, moderate olive green, marginally strong greenish yellow. Mycelium composed of septate, branched colorless or pale brown hyphae, forming conidia by fragmentation. Arthroconidia oblong or swollen with truncated ends (adapted from Hujslová and Kolařík 2013).
Type species: Acidiella bohemica Hujslová & M. Kolařík
Notes: Acidiella is an asexual genus and is found in acidic substrate. Acidiella is a well- supported distinct genus in Teratosphaeriaceae. Acidiella has a growth optimum at pH 5 and exhibit growth at pH 2 (Crous et al. 2017). Molecular markers available for Acidiella are ITS, LSU, SSU, BTUB, RPB2 and TEF-1.
