Importance and distribution
Chaetomastia comprises ten species known on Acer (Sapindaceae), Arbutus menziesii (Ericaceae), Artemisia campestris (Asteraceae), Echinochloa crus-galli (Poaceae), Equisetum hiemale (Equisetaceae), Fraxinus sp. (Oleaceae), old spines of Cereus (Cactaceae), Panicum virgatum (Poaceae), Phlox douglasii (Polemoniaceae), Phragmites communis (Poaceae), Phytolacca (Phytolaccaceae), Rhizophora apiculata (Rhizophoraceae), Salix (Salicaceae), Sambucus sp. (Adoxaceae), Trisetum sp. (Poaceae), Typha latifolia (Typhaceae) and Zea mays (Poaceae). Two species, Chaetomastia clavispora and C. typhicola have been transferred to Massariosphaeria and Aquimassariosphaeria respectively. Chaetomastia is distributed in Asia (India), Europe (Switzerland, United Kingdom.) and North America (Canada, the United States).
