Importance and distribution
Myriangiella species are epiphytic and form specialized nutritional guilds on the surface of the living host plants (Hongsanan et al. 2016). Myriangiella comprises four species. Myriangiella arcuata has been reported on living leaves of Casearia aculeata (Salicaceae) in Dominican Republic. Myriangiella roupalae was found on living leaves of Roupala veraguensis (Proteaceae) in Central America (Costa Rica). Myriangiella sabaleos was reported from leaves of Sabal palmetto (Arecaceae) in the United States (Florida) while M. orbicularis was collected from leaves of Coffea (Saccardo 1906). One species Myriangiella moelleriana was transferred to Schizothyrium. Myriangiella is distributed mainly in Central America (Panama, Costa Rica) and North America (Caribbean, Florida, West Indies).
