Hexagonella peleae
Hexagonella peleae F. Stevens & Guba, in Stevens, Bulletin of the Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii 19: 89 (1925).
Index Fungorum number: IF 253864; Facesoffungi number: FoF 11330, Fig. 1
Description:
Epiphytic on upper surface of leaves. Sexual morph: Ascostromata 295–400 μm diam., 285–395 μm high, scattered, solitary, superficial, with little cuticular connection, dark brown, rounded, plane, cushion-like, glabrous, multi-loculate, with each ascus forming in a locule, appearing ‘cell’ in a network-like structure, comprising a disk, with dense, woven mycelium, the central disk surrounded by irregular periphery of sparsely interwoven, loosely, branched, spreading hyphae, lacking ostioles. Peridium 40–50 μm, composed of a thick, hexagonal, mesh-like structure, with standing hyphae. Asci 12−16 × 14−15 µm (x̄ = 15.1 × 14.3 µm, n = 10), 8-spored, solitary, scattered in hexagonal cell-meshes, not covered by perithecia, each ascus positioned in a space between the sterile cells. Ascospores 10−12 × 5−6 µm (x̄ = 11.2 × 5.2 µm, n = 10), overlapping, brown, ellipsoidal to oblong, 3-septate, constricted at the middle septum, broadest at the lowest cell, thick and smooth-walled. Asexual morph: Unknown.
Note: The specimen was in poor condition. We could not observe any characters from the specimen. We report characters from the micro slide.
Material examined: The United States, Hawaii, Oahu, Wahiawa, on Pelea rotundifolia (Rutaceae), 3 June 1921, FL Stevens (ILL00006017, holotype).

Importance and distribution
Hexagonella comprises only one species known on leaves of Pelea rotundifolia (Rutaceae) in North America (Hawaiian Islands).
