Importance and role
Importance of genus to ecosystem
Species of Polyphialoseptoria are pathogenic and cause disease on host substrate.
Industrial relevance and applications
There is currently no industrial application of Polyphialoseptoria.
Quarantine significance
No biocontrol agent from Polyphialoseptoria has been identified so far. Being pathogenic, they may have potential in biocontrol purposes. Further studies are needed.
Biochemical importance of the genus, chemical diversity or applications
The chemical diversity of Polyphialoseptoria is unknown.
Diversity of the genus
Polyphialoseptoria comprises three species known on two host plants and plat family namely Bignoniaceae and Combretaceae. Polyphialoseptoria is reported from Minas Gerais and South Africa. More species of Polyphialoseptoria can be discovered in future studies.
