Importance of genus to ecosystem
Species of Cercoramularia are saprobic and are responsible for decomposition and nutrient recycling in the ecosystem. They may also be pathogenic showing as leaf spots.

The chemical application of Cercoramularia has not been studied. Cercoramularia may produce important enzymes. This warrants further studies.
Diversity of the genus
Cercoramularia comprises only one species known on leaves of Styrax japonicas (Styracaceae) in South Korea. More species of Cercoramularia can be discovered from future studies.
