Saprobic on host. Mycelium hyaline to brown. Conidiophores brown to pale brown, emerging from brown hyphae or swollen hyphal cells, smooth, euseptate, straight to geniculate-sinuous, simple or branched, sometimes reduced to conidiogenous cell. Conidiogenous cells integrated, terminal, hyaline to pale brown, monoblastic or proliferating sympodially, with thickened, dark-ened and refractive conidiogenous loci. Conidia hyaline to pale brown, euseptate, solitary or catenate, holoblastic, fusiform, rounded at the apex when solitary (Adapted from Videira et al. 2017).
Type species: Cercoramularia koreana Videira, H.D. Shin, C. Nakash. & Crous
Notes: Cercoramularia was introduced by Videira et al. (2017) with C. koreana as type species. Cercoramularia is characterized by hyaline to brown mycelium, monoblastic conidiogenous cells and hyaline to pale brown conidia. Cercoramularia is phylogenetically related to Phloeospora and Sphaerulina. Cercoramularia is a distinct and well-supported genus in Mycosphaerellaceae.
