Petrophila incerta

Petrophila incerta de Hoog & Quaedvl., in Crous et al., Fungal Systematics and Evolution 3: 130 (2019).

Index Fungorum number: IF 829423; Facesoffungi number: FoF 11119, Fig. 1

Description: see Egidi et al. (2014); Crous et al. (2019).

Material examined: see Egidi et al. (2014); Crous et al. (2019).

Fig. 1 Petrophila incerta (CBS 118608 = TRN139b, holotype, re-drawn from Egidi et al. 2014). Conidiophores and conidiogenous cells producing uniseptate conidia, with longitudinal septum (arrow). Scale bar = 10 µm.

Importance and distribution

Petrophila comprises only one species known on rocks in Europe (Spain). It plays a role in weathering, biofouling, and biodeterioration of bare rocks (Ruibal et al. 2018).
