Plokamidomyces

Plokamidomyces Bat., C.A.A. Costa & Cif., Atti Ist. bot. Univ. Lab. crittog. Pavia, sér. 5 15: 47 (1957).

Index Fungorum number: IF 9478; Facesoffungi number: FoF 06936, 1 morphological species (Species fungorum 2021), molecular data unavailable.

Pathogenic on host. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: HyphomycetousPhialides borne in whorl at the ends of seta-like erect branches; apical cell proliferates to form another whorl of phialides at a higher level. Phialoconidia minute, hyaline, amerosporous, accumulate in a slimy head (Adapted from Rossman et al. 2016).

Type species: Plokamidomyces colensoi Bat., C.A.A. Costa & Cif.

Notes: Plokamidomyces was introduced by Batista el al. (1957) with P. colensoi as type species. Plokamidomyces is characterized by phialides produced in whorl at ends of setae-like branches and hyaline, amerosporous conidia. Hughes (1972, 1976) and Sivanesan (1984) mentioned that Plokamidomyces is the asexual states of Trichopeltheca. Hughes (1965) pointed out that phialophores of Plokamidomyces vary from setae in Trichopeltina, characterized by the apical whorl of phialides, which produce minute hyaline phialospores. Consequently, Wijayawardene et al. (2017b) retained this genus in Euantennariaceae.
